Despite this, Japan is no stranger to the mixing of beliefs and has always been the solitary home of Shinto, and the syncretic Shinto-Buddhism that eventually came to replace “pure” Shinto.During the Sengoku-Jidai much of Japan would see ravaging armies and war every five years at worst. Despite being an Empire, the Empire of Japan was never historically a multi-cultural or multi-ethnic one until the conquest of the island of Hokkaido and the Conquest of Kankoku. Japan is a land even more unknown to the minds of Europeans, with mentions of Nippon never appearing along much more common European references to the “Great Empire of Cathay” and the other Kingdoms of the East. The newely reformed, westernised government of Japan is in a peak position to dominate the east. Further south of this, the crumbling nation of Gran Colombia racked with internal and external strive, may pave the way for a Luistanian "protectorate". To the south of Kita Kaigan is Qingqiu, a large but sparcely populated nation, that may have it's status of a free nation revoked by an imperial Japan. To it's north it has the puppeted Ainu Mosir, which at the moment has a minimal autonomy. The colonial holdings of Japan span to Kita Kaigan (OTL Alaska) which is home to several Kaiganese settlers. As Joseon is fully civilized naton, this may pose to be a tricky fight to some.

These, are also the two nations it starts at war against. Secondary power Japan (officially the Great Empire of Japan) is a nation which is on the far east of the map, not too far away from it's neighbours of the Qing Empire, The Kingdom of Joseon.
